About Me

I'm a self-taught home cook, baker, and recipe developer based in beautifully diverse Los Angeles. My recipes are inspired by both my upbringing as a first-generation Chinese-American (with roots in Hong Kong) and lifelong Angeleno.
Someone once described me a "lazy perfectionist" and I think that's the perfect encapsulation of my approach to most things in life. As a result, even when my recipes end up a little complicated, I try to include tips for simplifying the process when I can because that's what I would probably do in my own kitchen.

My favorite recipes highlight just one or two main ingredients rather than a bunch and I'm slowly working my way towards building out the tiny edible garden of my dreams so I can grow those ingredients myself. In a former life I was a hardware engineer so I also love getting way too deep into the world of kitchen gadgets and cookware (though I usually only buy items that will last me a lifetime, when I can!).
My recipes and videos have been featured in The New York Times, The Drew Barrymore Show, KCRW, and more.
